How does the performance/speed of LMDE compare to the light weight DEs and WMs?

I normally use either Xfce (as a 'stand-alone' desktop) or Openbox WM with NO desktop environment.

But LMDE, with Debian/testing . . . is pretty darn fast and with not near, as much bloat, as I had come to expect from Ubuntu's Gnome version.
Which means, to me, that a base/core Debian is pretty light and the Mint Devs added just enough to Mint-ify it ... but not 'so much' to make it 'heavy'

And, as of today, with the newly released Linux Kernel 2.6.37 ... I saw a noticeable improvement in speed and lower CPU/RAM usage.
With the new Kernel ... Network-Manager connected really quick - faster than it had been doing. From about 5 seconds down to 1 second.

I have almost, always, used a light-weight desktop (though, I don't need one) ... but I'm really liking LMDE's Gnome desktop.

Both the Debian Devs with Debian 6.0 Squeeze and the Mint Devs with LMDE have done an excellent job, in creating this Mint/Debian Distro release.

The only thing I'm not liking with this theme is how Chrome looks. I love using Chrome, but I can't get it to look "integrated" enough.

Nevertheless, you have an excellent looking desktop. (Especially since you didn't show us Chrome.) :D

Nice the way you split the panels to make your own docks. Where did you get the wallpaper?
