That'll be a huge, dare I say, epic step.

The "begging" of the end, yes. I.e., try and go on a Steam forum and wade through the several meters of gamer-dipshit to see the future of Linux forums such as these. As in, please, no, oh, noooooo, please nooooooooooooooo.....
Re: Epic Games Announce Anti Cheat Now Supported On Linux
Sometimes there are single topics with Linux support requests.
One company concluded ( long time ago ) that there are too few Linux users.
I liked used to conclude that there is no hardware with Linux, so there are no users there.
( In the US it may look better, in my country it looks worse, however you can see changes in the world )
The funniest are statistics. ( not only for systems or games )
You can say that
This year we have 2% of Linux users.
Or
This year we have 100% more Linux users
( From 1% to 2% this is 100% more )
Choose the version which for you looks better.
However it's nice that someone is working on a multi-platform software.
Now a lot depends on game producers whether they accept it.

When game was for free a few days, I tested single mode and worked. Multiplayer mode not worked.
I tried search what this game use.

Edit
I was wondering if this would make any difference to the ARK game.2021 wrote:BattlEye has provided native Linux and Mac support for a long time and we can announce that we will also support the upcoming Steam Deck (Proton). This will be done on an opt-in basis with game developers choosing whether they want to allow it or not.

Anti-Cheat:Battl Eye
BattlEye installation failed, preventing access to servers that require it.
Overall (online):Good
Re: Epic Games Announce Anti Cheat Now Supported On Linux
Proton-compatibility will still be opt-in apparently. Though EA and Epic have everything on a short leash so their catalogs will probably work.
Surely most of that sort of traffic will be going to Arch and Ubuntu forums. And besides that, Linux adoption might not surge since a lot of those games are popular with kids/teenagers that do not care about privacy/usercontrol. Installing a new OS would seem scary and uninteresting to the vast majority.
Benkyou taimu!

ARK is native for Linux. I have played for years in Linux with Steam. Not using Proton, don't have Proton installed. Works 100% and i average 150FPS @ 4k on most PvE servers.1000 wrote: ⤴Sun Sep 26, 2021 7:36 am https://twitter.com/TheBattlEye/status/ ... 91906?s=20I was wondering if this would make any difference to the ARK game.2021 wrote:BattlEye has provided native Linux and Mac support for a long time and we can announce that we will also support the upcoming Steam Deck (Proton). So maybe I used Proton and game tried install BattlEye.
Or I had Firejail sandbox active and this blocked BattlEye.
If you have time, you can try test with Proton active and then with Firejail.
Because I don't have this game now.
