Cant run programs with wine.

When i try to load a windows program with wine it never loads, but when i install the file wine opens it and runs it but when i try to use the actual application nothing happens.

Wine tough problem to get going at times. You did not mention the program your trying to run with it. So we can only give general advise.
1. Check the Wine HQ Database see if someone has got it going. (they may have put tips there.) https://appdb.winehq.org

2. PlayonLinux may be easier to use and it allows installing various versions of Wine up to 2.17 at the moment. Some programs run better on older version some on newer. - playonlinux is available from the mint repositories and can be install with this terminal command

sudo apt-get install playonlinux

or through synaptic.

3. Post the program your trying to run on this forum in case someone has already done the leg work for you.

4. Realize that not all programs will run under wine. For some you may have to install Virtualbox or similar virtual machines and install windows to it.
