Steam and Intel HD Graphics Cards

Post by BilboBaggins88 » Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:06 pm

Hi, i get so much out of forums, i thought i'd share this quick win, sorry if it's been talked about loads.

I run a Dell Inspiron 5548 laptop with the Intel HD 5500 graphics chip and found that whilst i could launch Steam, i could not then fire up HD games such as Two Point Hospital.

Thanks to this article https://community.linuxmint.com/softwar ... pau-va-gl1 this one little tool installed made all the difference. :)

May i also add that i think that Sega are shooting themselves in the foot suggesting that the minimum requirement is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460. My kids like the game so much ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lVS_9n-N8Q ), my heart sank when i discovered that the HD 5500 rates poorly against the minimum GTX 460, apparently 900+% worse ??? https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/N ... 64vsm16570

Well, i'm also happy to report that the game runs just fine, and can't wait to show the kids (when they haven't got homework to do)

Hope this helps someone.

Cheers, Bilbo
