Duke Nukem Atomic

Post by Berk » Sat Jul 27, 2019 9:07 am

I have an original set of Duke Nukem Atomic discs, including the installation disc. They were originally for Win 95, 32 bit. Is there any way I can install them on Linux Mint 19 Tara so that they will work?

I would load up a copy of XP on a virtual machine and run it there. I would leave the network off though

I got to the level where Duke says, "Where is it?"

Well I have an old 32 bit version of XP on a desktop that is in good working order but I am trying to get done with Microsoft as they are just too nosy for my liking. I have tried loading Nukem on the XP version but while it loads, I can't seem to configure the sound to work. In the old Win 95, it used a sound blaster sound card and it had specific channels (3,5, or 7) if memory serves me correctly and the sound card ( Invidia) has a different protocol.
I would really like to get this game up and running as I had reached the last level on two of the three games and so I have unfinished business with the Duke!
I welcome any suggestions and options. I have seen a program called Eduke 32 which is supposed to make Duke work on Linux, Win 7, 8 or 10 but I haven't had much luck unzipping it.

Using a DosBox frontend is probably your best bet.

would still install it on that XP based machine, though:
& just keep it off-line, where possible.

it did work under ./wine, at one point:
