VM options for windows games

Post by Yuritau »

Is there a best or preferred VM software for running windows games? I'm currently using the dual boot method, but if I can do it comfortably through VM I would make the switch just for the convenience, heh.

If you want to play small games (windows xp games, old games etc) that don't demand that much resources, you can use anything you want honestly: vmware, virtualbox or QEMU should give you good enough performance.

If however, you want to play AAA games and games that are resource hungry, I recommend you using QEMU + KVM combo and do something called a vfio passthrough (google it). It's a bit complicated, you will need two graphics cards but the performance should be very close to native If setup correctly.
