Far Cry 1 - 4 + Blood Dragon + Primal rough GUI guide

Post by cretsiah »

I do not have Far Cry 5 or 6 so can not give advice on these
For Primal to work requires Far Cry 3 or 4 to be owned, installed and working.

Running on Linux Mint XFCE 20
Steam Specs: (I have this setup on a "per game" setting not as a global" setting)
game properties:
- overlay off
- game theatre in VR off
- Force specific steam play compatibility tool on
- Proton 5.0.9

Performance may vary system to system (aka getting from launch to game menu screen might take a little while, but game should run perfectly fine)

may need to adjust graphics
- i can launch and play game
ONLY happens on Primal
- get a white flashy background (distance view) but is playable providing your not epileptic.

basic Comp Specs:
my specs:
- Gigabyte 970-3DP
- AMD FX 8320
- G Skill 16gig ram 1600mhz
- RX 550 4gig video card
- adata 800 SSD 512gig
- Toshiba (laptop drive) 1TB 3GB/s

to view full comp specs see system 2 on this thread viewtopic.php?f=225&t=332075

Far Cry 1 and 2 should not be any problem. should be simple click and go.
Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon should not be any problem. should be simple click and go.
Far Cry 3 or 4 these should also not be any problem.
a) except Uplay taking awhile, b)having server connection issues (try to wait this out)
- you may need to quit and relaunch game/ Uplay after your first launching (after successfully getting into your Uplay account
- you may wish to elect to play offline
- it is a good idea to have Uplay quit with each closing of a game.**

Far Cry primal:
Install Far Cry 3 or 4 first and launch game (we are just making sure that they are operational on your system).
Try launching Far Cry Primal if it launches succesfully half your luck :)

If you get Uplay error (either not installed or needs updating and just closes you will need to do a couple of more things)

Next Step: (can be done in GUI )
As i dont know where you install your Steam Games, you must find your steam games folder.

- we are looking for steamapps>compatdata
- we are looking for game ID folder 220240 (Far Cry 3 steam ID), 298110 ( Far Cry 4 steam ID )
- open pfx > drive_C > Program Files x86
- copy Ubisoft folder

- Find and open 371660 ( Far Cry Primal steam ID )
- open pfx > drive_C > Program Files x86
- paste and replace Ubisoft folder
- close file manager down or exit terminal

open steam launch Far Cry Primal
a) except Uplay taking awhile, b)having server connection issues (try to wait this out)
- you may need to quit and relaunch game/ Uplay after your first launching (after successfully getting into your Uplay account
- you may wish to elect to play offline
- it is a good idea to have Uplay quit with each closing of a game.**
