Re: What was your first computer game ever?
The first computer game I've played, must have been "Martian Memorandum" on a 286 pc.
It wasn't my game or pc.
A few years later I bought my first pc, a 486 dx4 100mhz.
The first games on that was "Dune2" and "Tex Murphy: Under a killing moon"

I can't even remember what the console was called but it was one that come out around the time of the Atari 2600 but it was even more basic. Just two lines knocking a pixel back and forth. I loved it so much.

Pong?
I can go one better. For us poor kids who couldn't afford 'Pong':

That was my Pong. For a mechanical system, it didn't work half bad.
Re: What was your first computer game ever?
I think it was like one of those Pong systems but it some generic brand. There might have been six or so games to choose from. Unwrapping the wires wasn't one of the games though. Kids today don't realise how easy they have it with bluetooth controllers.RickyRaccoon wrote: ⤴Fri Mar 19, 2021 5:15 pm [Pong?

Looks like you had it pretty rough. I thought my childhood was bad?

First one I can think of was a casino game on my Timex Sinclair 2068. Loaded from cassette tape. Had a couple cartridges too but don't remember what those programs were.

Re: What was your first computer game ever?
I'm not going to lie, the first game I played on my own computer was solitaire (286 Win 3.0). The first game I purchased and played was Jane's AH64D Longbow (486DX2-66, ATI All In Wonder), great game. Too much shareware to mention here...

In terms of PC, it would be one of a three pack of games: Curse Of Enchantia, Thunderhawk and Heimdall. It was called the "Encore pack". On a 486 machine, a time where I knew nothing about computers.

First computer game ever?
Oregon Trail on a Commodore PET computer at school.
Pong on an Atari console owned by a friend.
Then got my own Atari 2600, Asteroids, Missile Command, Space Invaders, Pitfall...

Re: What was your first computer game ever?
I only had one storebought game for my 2068 and that was an F15 jet pilot game... on cassette, I think- the only cartridge I have is like home budgeting or something. I adapted some games in generic BASIC to it, out of More Basic Computer Games (David Ahl)... the one I played most was Hunt The Wumpus. I added in some sound effects, as I recall.DisturbedDragon wrote: ⤴Tue Mar 30, 2021 7:37 pm First one I can think of was a casino game on my Timex Sinclair 2068. Loaded from cassette tape. A overly simple machine code first person shooting arcade I wrote and compiled myself. I then wrote a golf game. Both ran on a Timex Sinclair. Yes, I'm that old.

Re: What was your first computer game ever?
I don't remember the exact first computer game: hammurabi, hi-lo, hangman, ... I was 9 or 10, and my friend's dad let us play games on a terminal at the university. It was probably a Digital Equipment Corporation PDP with a line printer (teletype) for output. It was a probably running a small selection of games from 101 BASIC Computer Games. They were pretty simple games. We used a lot of paper!
I remember playing table tennis using a little game console and a black and white TV, but that was probably a few years later.
