I have been working for a long time on a book regarding PC gaming. It focuses mostly on period 1998-2018.
Though it may seem a bit strange I worked on it using HTML. Mostly because text-documents, regardless of which editor used, tend to go nuts if it is full of images. Which it off-course is .
I do not think any publisher would appreciate anyone else having access to all of the content already (also it's in Dutch). But I would like to show the selection I have for recommendations for new and old players alike. Hence I am going to post them as an image to avoid search engines. There is a list of a 100 games with summary/explanation/whatnot. As well as an additional list of 50 games.
The one free spot is for a CRPG. It's a genre that I have repeatedly trying to get into but I just never sticks. I am going to give Kingmaker another go. But I might have to write a separate section that goes into that genre since it has a rich and lesser known history.
Any thoughts about it? What am I missing. What have you never considered? How awesome exactly is it that almost all of these work in Mint? (I have actually tested all of them on Solus or Mint ) It is actually pretty mental how many of them are natively supported.

None of those 4. They are great references, but I don't use those or any others for that matter.Which ones do you all use here?

Oxygen Not Included - Warning, you might develop an obsession.
DiRT Rally - I'm sad DiRT Rally 2 isn't native.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - If you like being sneaky
Pillars of Eternity and it's sequel - Super atmospheric RPG

You say you could use a spare place for a CRPG: Planescape Torment. One of the most compelling and atmospheric games I've ever played.

Pillars of Eternity was what I got furthest in.. Until I grew bored of it after 30 hours or so.. And Planescape Torment I never really got started with either. It seems to have pushed boundries when it comes to showing a very intricate story and setting, but not sure if I could ever recommend it.. Same thing with Baldur's Gate. CRPGs are a genre that I really tried getting into. But there were always things that turned me off in each and every one of them. I was thinking using Kingmaker as an example to compare the rest with so that the reader is aware of them. But also point out why I didn't like that one entirely either (freakin timed events..). I pretty much bought every single one that I can think off too.. So I guess I at least contributed to it in that way Thank god for Noah Caldwell Gervais' video essays to help me with this part

While probably a bit different, I REALLY liked Dirt 4. And it is native, but I did not add it since I have quite a few racers in the list already. I was surprised by how much I like it since I hated Dirt 3. The Rally ones are more simulator-like if I'm correct.
I will check those other games later. Thank you both for the recommendations.
