Best open source VR

Post by royt911 »

Don't know much about VR and want to get something for my grandchildren for Christmas. I really liked the Oculus Quest that my friend let me use but I don't like the fact that Facebook is associated with it. I don't trust big name companies. That is why I am on Linux and not on windows. I see others are tied to google and samsung. So my questions:
1. Is there an open source VR that will keep my info private?
2. Can you play the same games that oculus has on cheaper VR googles?

If you're looking for any company to keep your information private when it comes to VR, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

You may be better off using Valve's VR headset called the Valve Index: https://store.steampowered.com/valveindex

If you really want privacy, you may be interested in building the cardboard VR from Google: https://arvr.google.com/cardboard/
