(Solved) Installing old X-Plane 9; problem with "libOpenAL"; sound not working

Post by alquimista »

Hi,

I just got the old X-Plane 9 installed in an HP Laptop.

Thanx on the help of this forum, I got libGLU.so.1, the 32 bits version required for grahics to get working.

Graphics work well now, yet when starting up, its requesting the libOpenAL;

Code: Select all

guillermo@guillermo-HP-ZBook-14u-G4:~$ locate libopenal
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1.19.1
Sound is not working

The system has it under the 64 version, what can I do to get the 32 bits version?

Solved:

Using Synaptic, I installed "libopenal1:i386"

Sound now works fine in X-Plane 9

Thanks for sharing how you solved the problem. I also have X-Plane 9 and was wondering about trying to install it on my Linux Mint 20.3 system. Your info will make it much easier to get it working.

Thanks again.
