Re: Mint Debian
I took a look at Debian Lenny. I presume that downloading all 30-odd cd ISOs would give you an entire repository on disc: playtime!tdockery97 wrote:That's O.K. Doesn't matter to me whether I download a big ISO. With a smaller ISO you end up having to download/install a bunch of stuff from the repos anyway.mmesantos1 wrote:Yes will have live session though it may be too big an ISO for CD, last ISO was too big and will only fit on DVD. It was 874MB in size.
Re: Mint Debian
Downloaded, installed, up and running, only one hiccup, for some reason the installer didn't create my home folder (separate home partition), so got errors when I logged on, had to create it manually, all ok now.
If I like it I may stay with this instead of the main edition, hopefully Mint updates and software versions (like Firefox) will be released in tandem with the main version.
Do the developers want feedback and if so where to?
Keep up the good work, it is much appreciated.

Re: Mint Debian
Mint Debian is a great release.
The mint team has to figure out a newbee friendly installer, i'm sure, mint will get a solid new user base then.

Re: Mint Debian
I'm assuming KDE will be in the package manager which you can try to install over Mint Debian. For example, (just for fun) I installed KDE over Crunchbang 10 (debian) after some tweaking it runs really well and is quite fast.craig10x wrote:I know it is kind of early "in the game" ikey...but do you think that if it works out well that there would be both gnome 32 and 64 bit as well as KDE 32 and 64 bit versions as well...
I definitely plan to take a look at this gnome release as soon as it's on the mirrors, but that darn boo got me hooked now on kde with his Mint 9 KDE
So now, i want it ALL...Mint Debian with KDE and 64 bit
Re: Mint Debian
Not creating a separate /home partition was a problem seen in the last rejected build, not the "approved" build or at least it wasn't reported as such in the comments at the Community website ("iso image" page under the Testing tab) and that's (supposedly) when paths are for two hard drives--1 for Home and the other for Root and Swap. You could leave a comment on the "Approved for Stable release" post at the Community website. The QA team might still be monitoring it maybe?ginjabunny wrote:Downloaded, installed, up and running, only one hiccup, for some reason the installer didn't create my home folder (separate home partition), so got errors when I logged on, had to create it manually, all ok now.

Re: Mint Debian
lol, place found ftp.heanet.ie is on my bookmarks.
Ran the first live-cd session, very briefly and everything looks great, fast, light.
Tomorrow with more time, i will give it a go installing and if i can configure the wireless properly i will change my signature.

Re: Mint Debian
Ikey, I saw your note on the Community page:
"People have .. obtained.. the ISO pre-announcement.
I'm hearing a bug whereby the installer sits at "Cleaning apt" and stops doing anything
after. Bar goes back and forth and nothing happens. One guy reported "No Operating System installed"
from boot"
I too had this but after say 15 mins, I hit quit and restarted....I was able to boot up fine. When I tried to d/l the latest updates it told me to run the dpkg --configure -a command. I did and recvd this:
updates are still downloading but seems ok.....
