zero,
Looks like that might get me somewhere.

The following packages will be upgraded:
ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk
2 upgraded, 190 newly installed, 4 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 81.7 MB of archives.
After this operation, 118 MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
Abort.
danc@danc-e535:~/Documents$ apt-cache policy acroread
acroread:i386:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 9.5.1-dmo7
Version table:
9.5.1-dmo7 0
500 http://lmde-mirror.gwendallebihan.net/l ... ultimedia/ testing/non-free i386 Packages

I am going to let it install the needed packages and then do the Acroread install.
Then I am going to bed.
Thanks for the excellent help as usual.
I didn't know I had a mirror problem.

Following on after dcihon's last post this is what I get:

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Maybe I should have added the arch, but "root@DESKTOP:/# apt-get install acroread:i386" gives the same output.

I use LMDE 64 bits.
I downloaded the .deb package from the Adobe webpage:

http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

I had previously done this:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
Then I installed the adobe .deb package with Gdebi.

Gdebi seems to crash during instalation, probably because it has to install many libraries. But with two attempts it worked.

I recommend to add a %f to the menu, after acroread

Now I have acroread in my system.
