Usb hard drive not detected mint debian

I have a usb Iomega LDHD250-U that isn't detected by the pc.I'm using Linux Mint Debian edition.I've run fdisk -l,lsblk,lsusb all do not show the drive.

Can you test it on any other machine
Make sure it's not dirty if it'd been used in windows

I tired it on my laptop that has the latest ubuntu on it and I have the same problem.

It is probably a faulty usb interface on your Iomega, then. Is it usb-powered only or does it have its own power-supply ?

It has it's own power supply.

Depending how much of a fix you are in
You could pull it apart and plug the HD directly in to a Motherboard, that is if you have a Desktop PD or access to one.

Yes, it might be the embedded drive itself also. But considering your error messages it is more probably an issue with the usb interface electronics on the Iomega. Taking the usb interface out of the equation would tell you which part is failing.

I took the drive and hooked it to the mobo and no luck.So I took another drive from another pc I have and put it in the usb case,it booted right up.So I'm guessing my iomega drive is dead,rip pos.

I solved this it was a bad usb cable.When in doubt always change cables I guess.
