Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
Thanks both for your answers. Finally, I installer one package to fix a dependency and then I coud install all the others packages but... it messed up my LMDE installation
Now it shows me only the login screen. If I try to log in, it turns in a black screen with only the mouse point.
I wanna use an up to date Debian + Mate distro, so I thougth this solutions:
1. Move to 17.1 or Ubuntu-Mate (don't know the diferrences)
2. Reinstall LMDE and try to move to testing again
3. Install SolydX and try adding Mate
4. Try to fix my installation
any suggestions?

^^
Install a Debian Testing based distro with Mate or with Mate install-able.
I would suggest Sparky Linux.

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
+1 to genec's suggestion.
there's no reason using solydxk or ubuntu based iso if you want to get debian+mate. you can either use debian testing iso or install another distro based on debian which use mate. if you love LMDE you could 'mintify' your system when LMDE2 got released.

you could use http://pointlinux.org/ which has ISOS available for Wheezy and Jessiekurotsugi wrote:+1 to genec's suggestion.

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
Thanks!!!
From tty I installed OpenBox and started it... I also downloaded Sparky Mate but for some reason I wanna try to fix what I break. I think that is Mate what I have broken because all the other things works with openbox desktop.
Edit 1: with XFCE is the samen that with MATE: nothing works. Only with openbox I can log in.

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
it's a known issue that current LMDE isn't upgradeable to debian testing. if you insist to debug it you can start checking the log files. apt history, dmesg and X's log should gives some information. else, if you could restore your system before upgrade, try to install XFCE then upgrade it to testing.
Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
Yep, muy mistake. I should have read a bit more than only this thread
I will install sparky while I try to debug The miss-upgraded LMDE
Thanks to all!

With very little additional work Sparky looks like thisGeneC wrote:I would suggest Sparky Linux.
Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
IIRC sparky is using cinnamon from debian so cinnamon 2.2 is now fully functional on debian. that's a good news. we might could upgrade LMDE to testing and avoid cinnamon broke with several tricks :3
Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
Hi! Finally I decided to move to 17.1 and leave my mess-up LMDE in another partition until I could make it work another time.
Thanks to all for your help!

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid
Hey folks. Are the instructions found at the beginning of this thread still valid to move LMDE (fully updated) to Jessie? (Except replace 'testing' with jessie'.)
Second, how does one restore sources.list when LMDE finally moves to Jessie?
Thanks.
