Hope this is correct forum.

Wanting to install Inkscape (a fundamental package) on latest Linux Mint Debian, using Synaptic, it fails with

Code: Select all

W: Failed to fetch http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/linuxmint/debian/latest/pool/main/i/imagemagick/perlmagick_6.7.7.10-2_i386.deb
  404 Not Found [IP: 37.59.37.195 80]
FWIW Software Manager just does nothing when click to install it.

What can I do about this? Found nothing at all in the forums.

TIA Lewis Smith

This problem has simply 'gone away'. I re-tried much later installing Inkscape & it worked fine, so this dependancy matter must have been sorted (or sorted itself) behind the scenes.

When you get a message like this that has a link in it you can try and open the link in a webbrowser to see if the site is down.

On the site:
http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/
It says
uptime: 6days
The site was down. I wish the package managers could give better information on these cases because it's among the more common questions in the Linux world (my opinion..).

Glad it works now!
