[Solved]Ethernet works with Live DVD, not working after ins

I thought I'd try LMDE as an upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04.
The live DVD worked fine, recognised my printer & scanner etc. Wired ethernet automatically recognised. Everything looked good so I tried to install it. No problems except that it doesn't seem to recognise my wired ethernet connection now that it's installed. It says that Wired Connection 1 is connected - but nothing (i.e. Firefox) works.

Am I missing something obvious?

I've reinstalled Ubuntu for the moment, but would really like to get this sorted.

If the live dvd works, it should not be a driver issue.. except..

a> Check if your network settings shows airplane mode on
b> If you had turned on updates while install, it probably updated the kernel along with some updates during the install. Go to update manager, click view history of updates to verify it.
c> Go to edit and software sources in the same screen, check if there are any additional drivers that need to be installed or enabled (your network card)

If all of the above fails, post the Mint you are using, what bit, what DE, your hardware info etc and we would further try to assist.

Good luck

Solved - The ethernet was fine - it was Firefox which was the problem. Updated that and all OK
