hunspell-en-us upgrade removes mint-meta-debian-cinnamon, et

Post by jackmetal » Tue Jul 23, 2013 2:54 pm

I just noticed that the hunspell-en-us upgrade is wanting to remove mint-meta-debian-cinnamon and thunderbird. I've held off on the upgrade for now!

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  mint-meta-debian-cinnamon thunderbird
The following packages will be upgraded:
  hunspell-en-us
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 2 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 255 kB of archives.
After this operation, 51.4 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
Abort.
I've been using LMDE since it's first release (following Testing and SID) and finally broke down and did a reinstall on my main laptop and I'm now using the standard update packs. I'm used to following the "Upgrade Warnings: LMDE tracking TESTING" and "LMDE Breakages (Tracking SID)" threads, is there a particular thread for issues following the standard repo's/update packs?

Thanks!

Did you do anything with the preferences file?

No, I left it default (I have it removed on my other LMDE installs, following Testing and Sid) but left it as it was installed on this new one.

Code: Select all

Package: *
Pin: release o=linuxmint
Pin-Priority: 700

Package: *
Pin: origin packages.linuxmint.com
Pin-Priority: 700

Package: *
Pin: release o=Debian

Your sources.list is missing this entry:

Code: Select all

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import
And so apt-get tries to get the updated hunspell-en-us from the Testing snapshot.

As Homer would say: Doh!

LOL - Thanks... I realized what I did as soon as I saw this. I left that line commented out when I made a change this morning! For some reason "universe" was in the packages.linuxmint.com line, so I had commented out the original line, copied it and then removed universe from the copied line and forgot to un-comment that line!

Thanks again for the help!
