freeze during installation [SOLVED]

Post by reptilian »

Hey,
A few days ago i succeeded at installing LMDE to my laptop and now I am trying to get it on my main desktop PC.
The thing is that when I boot LMDE from the live USB stick (the same I used when installing it to my laptop) and I open the "Install Linux Mint" shortcut it opens up but everything becomes "laggy". When the time comes up to manage my partitions in gparted ( root, swap etc. ) everything freezes (gparted mainly) and I cannot click anything in it. To do anything else like launching firefox I have to use my keyboard to ALT+F4 gparted in order to make the overall interface a bit less laggy. I get some freezes even in firefox (it was not easy to come here and post)

anyone has an idea on how I can get that gparted to unfreeze and install my LMDE ? Is there any way to make the root, swap and home partitions from the terminal?

thank you,

You can try to manage your partitions with Parted Magic before you install LMDE. That's the way
i installed my systems on existing partitions.
