gcalctool after UP7 [SOLVED]

Post by Ken_g6 » Mon Sep 30, 2013 11:57 am

I have a strange little issue with gcalctool after UP7:

Code: Select all

$ gcalctool
The program 'gcalctool' is currently not installed. To run 'gcalctool' please ask your administrator to install the package 'gcalctool'
gcalctool: command not found
$ sudo apt-get install gcalctool
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
gcalctool is already the newest version.
$ which gcalctool
$
So gcalctool is installed, but there's no binary that I can find.

Edit: I should mention that I also uninstalled and reinstalled the package - no effect.

gnome-calculator

The binary's name was changed some time ago in Experimental along with the desktop file, which caused it to no longer show up in the GNOME menu, since the menu was still looking for the old desktop file. I filed a bug about it when I noticed it had happened, and they ended up reverting the desktop file's name so it would show up in the menu again, but the binary's name remains changed.

According to Synaptic, the gcalctool package on my system is just a transitional package to gnome-calculator. If you have a package named gnome-calculator installed you should be able to remove the old gcalctool package now.
