Not quite, since incoming is still based on a given snapshot of debian testing, therefore so not quite so "unstable" :)

Good luck, Riko

Incoming is pretty stable in fact. Of course there is always a few minor problem and you don't really know where you are going. But that's not a massive breakage and it's fun. Anxious to test UP8 !

Release Date of Next Version of LMDE?

Post by tranjeeshan » Tue Dec 31, 2013 4:31 pm

Hi,
I was wondering when the next version of Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) is going to come out? Is there a possible date or time of the year to mention?
With thanks,
Muntasim-Ul-Haque

I hope the new iso features an installer that allows installation onto lvm/mdraid. I would like to switch over to lmde but cannot until this functionality is in place.

If you want things to go faster, help us!
Enable the incoming repo and test UP8. You will get the last UP and everyone will profit of your experience. With your help, LMDE may be released faster

Not if Clem doesn't care. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth... forum, blogs, etc.

He can do whatever he wants, of course. Serious lack of updates and interest from the devs made me reconsider this whole LMDE thing. Have fun with it.

Are you the man of steel? Never sick? Are you working 365 days a year ? Because that's almost what Clem do

Go use Solydxk... they have just switched their system to 4 UP a year... Ohhhh! Maybe I have a better option... Do your own distro if you have so much time.
If you had started upgrading to UP8 instead of posting your first message this morning, you would have a nice up-to-date system. But, hey! it's less risky to speak...

Maybe for true rolling distro you can use Arch or Manjaro... You will see if it's as reliable as LMDE ;)

a lil bit out of topic but if the UP delay is the biggest consideration then we actually can use solydxk's debian testing's snapshot. as for manjaro, no, they're not fully rolling release anymore. they now use similar scheme with LMDE. in their repo they have stable, testing, and experimental branch. the stable branch updated at certain period just like we did in LMDE and solydxk. however, since they manage all the repo by theirself, they can easily prevent breakage.
