configuration of "dpkg" - help is needed [SOLVED]

I am installing LMDE now on a virtual machine (Oracle Virtual Box running on XP) and had a complete system look up while installing Japanese fonts. Restarting LMDE in the virtual machine and starting the Package Manager gave me following error message:

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

What do I need to do to configure dpkp? I am a newbie!

You need to do the following:

• Open a terminal
• Type the command given in the error message:

  Code: Select all

  dpkg --configure -a

dpkg --configure -a is a terminal command.
