Mintmenu won't load at startup (conflict with Conky?)

Post by xfrank » Fri Apr 24, 2015 10:09 am

I know, why bother if LMDE2 is coming, anyway we will upgrade soon... But for the moment, we have to work with LMDE1. I have LMDE1 MATE. So... I have an annoying bug since a week that I cannot solve: Mintmenu and the desktop icons (MATE) won't load at startup, they load only after 20-30 seconds, causing conky to crash. In other words: at startup, first loads conky with the Mate panel and Cairo-dock,, then Conky crashes, and Mintmenu and desktop icons appears. I have to manually load Conky again, then the desktop behavior is normal.
I cannot explain why this bug appeared. The only change I did in the past week was to take my custom Conky to Conky Manager. I have tried different time delays for Conky to avoid the (supposed) conflict: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, up to 45 seconds, but no luck. :?

Update: changing my custom conky to another one available in the conky manager, solves the conflict. I wonder why. My custom conky is the same since 2012 and never caused conflict with mintmenu... :?
