Downloads | Clementine Music Player Compiling from source
Compiling Clementine from source is easy on Linux. Download the source code package from the list above, and in a terminal window:
cd bin
cmake ..
make
sudo make install
Full list of depends:

You probably also add an Ubuntu sources line and build it from that source.

BTW nothing to really install, make creates an executable. So you can just create a shortcut to it.

Yet another yet another (yeah intentionally recursive) music player ...
Still... and a related issue since we only have one forum and the bug thread was closed ages ago...
If this one gets packaged and finds its way in the repos I'd give it a go. I tried installing Decibel via synaptic and it'd always die up front (terminal gave away nothing). Both 1.04 from the repos and 1.05 from the developers' site.
Yesterday Rhythmbox stopped responding (clicks _looked_ to register but nothing happened) after I'd watched the new Sintel(.org) flick with Gnome mplayer. Rhythmnox did come back to life later after I had resumed from suspend (to RAM) but it was worrying. Gnome mplayer still continued to play audio tacks though. Maybe my audio woes were cause by the failed Decibel install but it would be nice to have one single reliable audio player.

Silly app won't play lastfm says you need to be a paid lastfm subscriber.
While both the lastfm app and shell-fm work just fine.

Is compiling the only way in Mint-Debian? I used Debian last year and I didn't have to compile any source code to install programs.
Maybe I should go back to Mint 9 and pass on Mint-Debian. So far Mint-Debian is a bit faster, but no better than regular Mint 9 for my needs.

If a package is not in the repos or doesn't have a .deb built for Debian, then yes compiling from source is the only option.

I'm new to all this and would like to download this Clementine music player. I have never downloaded any program outside of the software center. How do I download this from the site. It says their is a download for Unbuntu 10.10 Maverick. I'm using Mint 10. It just seems overly complicated and I don't understand how to install programs in Mint. Thanks.

Follow the instructions from the download page ->

The Below is for Linux Mint 10 only. Not LMDE
In a terminal, issue the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:me-davidsansome/clementine
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install clementine

Forget downloading anything.
The Clementine program/application is already in the Mint/Ubuntu repositories.
Easy to Add/install, simply do this:
Menu > System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager
In the Quick Search bar of Synaptic, search for Clementine
Right-click on the Clementine App and select 'Install' <enter>
Check out the Synaptic Package Manager ... there are some 29,000 Applications/Programs you can 'install' from there.
With 2 or 3 clicks ... no need to search the web or download anything. Almost everything you could ever want is there.
If it's not in the Debian/Mint repositories ... you don't need it or it doesn't exist.

You can download directly the last stable 0.6 release (linux mint debian <-> debian squeeze 32-bits / 64-bits, linux mint 9 <-> lucid and linux mint 10 <-> maverick 32- / 64-bits):
