Installing Google Earth on LMDE

Post by phil » Tue Oct 12, 2010 6:43 pm

As an experiment I want to install Google Earth on one of my computers that has LMDE on it. In the repositories I find an installer but no instructions about how to use it. Any suggestions?

Install googleearth-package then as user not root run

Code: Select all

/usr/bin/make-googleearth-package -force
Once it is finished building use either dpkg or gdebi to install the .deb

If it crashes after installing, check your graphics (in terminal: inxi -G). If it does not show a GLX version, go to Package Manager and install: libgl1-mesa-dri
Kubuntu 18.04

I had to do:

Code: Select all

sudo nvidia-settings --uninstall
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-video-intel libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri xserver-xorg-core
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
Here are the results of inxi -G on my machine

Code: Select all

Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller
I gathered the instructions here: http://goo.gl/W1D3e
Why keep it simple when it can be complicated?
