New software releases

Post by tresi »

Hello to all,

I am using LMDE on my home-server and like it very much. Thanks for the good job!
I like that all software is updated very often and in the last version. So I don't need to install anything from the product homepages and make updates manually.

But for example, one software isn't updated in the last time: Sabnzbd. In the meantime Sabnzbd is released in version 0.6.2. In the repository is only 0.5.6. Can I see anywhere if and when the new updates are released?

Thanks in advance!

Kindly regards
tresi

Thanks for your reply.

At the given link you can read the package information. I don't understand why I cannot update it per apt-get.

I tried to add

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian sid main contrib in my /etc/apt/sources.list
- like shown on the information page. After update, the upgrade shows me dozens of updates for many other apps and of course for sabnzbdplus. Is this correct? Can I install all updates normally or are this all beta-versions?

Kindly regards

just bare in mind one thing, LMDE tracks testing and you are adding sid to your sources.list, that is not a good practice if you are concerned with your system stability

Or just download it from SABnzbd.org : Home of SABnzbd+, the Full-Auto Newsreader » Download SABnzbd - http://sabnzbd.org/download/

$ apt-cache policy sabnzbdplus
sabnzbdplus:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 0.6.2-1
Version table:
0.6.2-1 0
500 http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable/contrib i386 Packages

First make sure you have an /etc/apt.preferences that specifies "testing" for the default release.
Make sure you have main contrib non-free on your debian sid line
then do apt-get update; apt-get install -t unstable sabnzbdplus

You will want to use apt-pinning:
