Re: how to revert to previous firefox install
Delete the new Firefox and change the shortcut back to the old.
Re: how to revert to previous firefox install
hi jeffreyC, thanks for the suggestion, here's how it went.
i deleted the folder /usr/loca/firefox4 and changed the shortcut command back to /opt/firefox/firefox %u but when i run it from mint menu it won't start. firefox 4 is already installed from synaptic in my lmde install but i can't get it to start. running firefox from terminal gives this output:
The program 'firefox' is currently not installed. To run 'firefox' please ask your administrator to install the package 'iceweasel'
firefox: command not found
i believe it has something to do with the symbolic link created in the community faq that i followed
is there a way to undo this? thanks again

Re: how to revert to previous firefox install
I believe you should just be able to remove the link by using rm. i.e.:
rm /usr/local/bin/firefox4
One thing you can try to see if it works before you remove the link (or after should be fine too...) is to open a terminal and type out the whole path to firefox, i.e. /opt/firefox/firefox
rm /usr/local/bin/firefox4

Re: how to revert to previous firefox install
hello CiaW
tried running in terminal and it gave me this:
$ /opt/firefox/firefox
(firefox-bin:3250): Bonobo-WARNING **: Bonobo must be initialized before use
then proceeded to run rm /usr/local/bin/firefox4 as super user
when I run firefox with the same command it would also give the same warning as above
any idea?
