Will there be a smooth transition to GTK3?

Seeing that whenever I update my Mint and get latest Gnome programs (like Terminal), they seem to be now part of the 3.0 series. I know theres a new update package repository by the Mint team but I'm hoping this makes a smooth transition for everything like the themes and Mint extras to GTK3.
