I just wiped out my system and replaced Julia 64 with LMDE 64.
Loaded from 201012, upgraded system for hours.
This is my sources list:
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/incoming testing main contrib non-free
deb-src http://debian.linuxmint.com/incoming testing main contrib non-free
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import backport romeo
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free
I have LMDE 32 in another machine, Synaptic works just fine, and that machine is much older than this one.
On LMDE 64 Synaptic lost the Quick filter, between Properties and Search.
I do not see anything in Settings -> Preferences to put it back.
I need it, please help.

Hi,
try to install apt-xapian-index and restart synaptic.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install apt-xapian-index

YES! Although now I see another button Mark All Upgrades, what does that do?

The button marks all packages for upgrade that have a newer version in the repository, i.e. are upgradeable.

exactly what it says: marks all the upgrades available and after that install them, but you won't see it for long, it was removed from mint, so after next logout or with some luck after an update it will be gone

Ditto, it disappeared after a reboot.
