Update Wants to Remove Thunderbird

I am using LMDE and have been since it came out. This morning the icon alerted me to the fact an update was available. When it finished loading and I clicked on "apply", I was informed that in addition to applying the updates, it would also remove Thunderbird. The only option I could find was to not install the updates. I checked each package listed to be installed and could find nothing remotely associated with email so (1 why would Thunderbird be removed, and 2) is there any way to install the updates without removing Thunderbird?
