Hello everyone
I removed Vista Basic (SP1+2) and made a clean install of Cinnamon 18.1 ((32bit version) on a Acer 5515-5879 laptop. Cinnamon acted crazy so I tried a driver update and was told that the existing AMD64 microcode was not working.
I done some research and discovered that Linux Mint usually updates the microcode, but that didn't happen with my installation.
Should (can) I reinstall a 64bit version of 18.1 (or 18.2) and will I get the updated microcode as part of the reinstall?
Thanks for any help.

Try this:
If that fails on your 32-bit system, try installing a 64-bit system or try updating the BIOS.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install amd64-microcode
