I am having problems after updating both the kernel and Virtualbox.
Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit
Cinnamon Version 2.8.8
Linux Kernel 4.4.0-111 generic
Processor Intel Core i7-2600K CPU @3.40GHz x 4
Memory 15.6 GiB
Hard Drives 2912.7 GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA Corporation GK208 [GeForce GT630 Rev. 2]
VirtualBox 5.1.32 Guest Additions 5.1.32 on all VM's
I have four virtual machines set up Windows 7 runs fine, Windows XP runs fine but both Mint 17.2 and Mint 18.3 fail to start correctly giving me the message 'Running in Software Rendering Mode'
If I switch on 3D Acceleration in the settings then Cinnamon does not start and I end up in fallback mode with a black screen.
Anyone got any thoughts.
TIA.

Re: Cinnamon Crashes after upgrade to VB 5.1.32
I assume that you have installed the guest additions for VB 5.1.32 in your VMs. There is currently a bug in the GA of this version (the same for the current version for 5.2.x). You find on the download page of VB a corrected download file for GA.

Yes the correct GuestAdditions is on all VM's.
Does this bug affect the graphics?

Thanks everyone who replied, that's why this forum is so wonderful because everyone is willing to help.
My problem is now solved, I downloaded the updated Guest Additions, 5.1.33-1250529, from the Virtualbox website and all is now sweet.
Thanks again.
