I guess the solution I need is what kernel worked with vbox 5.1.34 ?
Then I can revert to that kernel and vboxdrv will be happy.
I am running Linux Mint 18.2, what I am content with.
kernel 4.15.0-24

Re: VirtualBox Quit Working
You need two things, an updated VBox, which you can download from Oracle, and a 4.15 kernel prior to 4.15.0-24. That kernel is causing widespread issues at the moment.

FIXED!
Back to an earlier kernel:
kernel: Linux
release: 4.13.0-45-generic
version: #50~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 30 11:18:27 UTC 2018
distribution: Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya
desktop: MATE Desktop Environment 1.18.0
Architecture: x86_64
CPU op-mode(s): 32-bit, 64-bit
kernel 4.15.0-24 & vbox 5.1.34 are incompatible!

Edit your original post and add solved into the title. We all had a lot of problems with kernel versions and VB versions earlier in the year.
