Thank you to all who responded to my post.
Disabling Secure Boot solved the problem.
As bonus it also solved a different problem I had. See viewtopic.php?f=59&t=280134.
Also in inxi I can see that the Nvidia driver is being used.
Killed three birds with one stone. Why is Secure Boot such a pain in the ***?
Now I can mark two post SOLVED!
