seamless app from virtual machine

Post by emoxam »

Hello all!
I've dive at linux desktop world, and have few tasks i can't do by myself.
is there any software to make windows app seamless at the linux?
I heard of "coherence" at the parralels desktop, but it's for mac only (https://kb.parallels.com/en/4670)
i heard vmware player have "unity", but it's been abandonded since version 12. (1 tryed 11.1.4 but it's doen't start on my linux mint cinnamon 19.1)
virtualbox has integrated mode (https://www.howtogeek.com/171145/use-vi ... l-machine/) but it's not that seamless app, it's seamless OS.

it there any way to get windows app at linux seamless? (no v-app, citrix and so on) )

Thanks

You may try crossover linux

https://www.codeweavers.com/products/

this works for me on Linux Mint 19.1 (Office2016 - Word Excel Powerpoint - not using Outlook)

VirtualBox seamless mode is an option but is clunky as it really runs a different OS with different UX.

As much as I hate to echo the typical Linux company line, I think it's best to keep apples and oranges separate (and I have tried making it work via Wine, Play On Linux and Crossover). I have a Windows 7 Virtual Box image, and I keep it suspended. With an SSD it fires up in less than 10 seconds. I have Office 2016 installed there and it runs like a champ.

Just my 2 cents.. and I have been trying to do figure out the right mix for 10 years, as a part of me must live in the Windows world for customer purposes.

its based on wine but seamless - you do not have to start wine or any starter - you just start each app (word, excel etc) from your mint startmenue see screenshot:
