how to purge virtualbox 6 from linux mint?

Post by pippo_jedi » Tue Apr 23, 2019 1:46 pm

Hi,
I have a problem:
I installed from official downloaded package the version 6 of virtualbox but i cannot get any installation of a linux system get to work.
My linux mint 19.1 has in his repo the 5.something version and i want to try that but i cannot understand how to get completly out of the system version 6.
the downloaded package has no command to self erase, I tried to manually erase all things from system but somewhat failed since even with " version 5 gui" or other virtualization software/interfaces v6 of virtualbox stands in the way...

can somebody help me? I'm not a system admin or the like but I'm a medium linux dabbler...
I suppose some lib or modules survived somewhere but...

thank you for your time...

Hey pippo, welcome to the Linux Mint Forums.

What I use is apt purge virtualbox*. No need for sudo, but you'll be asked for your password.

If your problem has been solved, please edit the thread title.

Hello,

You can use "apt purge virtualbox". You don't have to use sudo, but you'll be asked for your password after writing that command.
