Vbox shortcut in Mint 19.1 -- solution

Post by cecilieaux » Tue May 14, 2019 10:51 am

Being lazy, I like to click on a desktop short cut to turn on a virtual machine. In Mint 19.1, to which I upgraded recently, I was getting an error that
startvm is an option for the VirtualBox VM runner (VirtualBoxVM) not the VirtualBox Manager
The command in the shortcut was

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox --startvm "MyVM"
(where "MyVM" stands for the PID)

I discovered that all I had to do was change VirtualBox to VirtualBoxVM, making the command:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBoxVM --startvm "MyVM"
This works perfectly! Hope it helps someone.
