[Solved] new user "libvirt qemu" ??

Post by SomeDudeInAZ » Fri Jun 28, 2019 7:41 pm

Hi Folks,

I'm experimenting with VMs and I've noticed that I now have a new user listed on my login screen "Libvirt Qemu"?

Why is that there? Can I remove it? Or at least hide it?

Thanks

You can try Oracle's virtual box too.

Hi, it's normally a side effect of installing Gnome Boxes. For reasons that I'm not aware off this system account is created with a UID > 1000, and isn't properly flagged as a system account.

This should work to hide it.Run in a terminal window.

Code: Select all

printf "[User]\nSystemAccount=true\n" | sudo tee /var/lib/AccountsService/users/libvirt-qemu

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl restart accounts-daemon.service
For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.
