Quick Update: I went back into BIOS/UEFI and chose "other OS" rather than Windows Secure boot and then retried after repairing bootloader, and now it is working as per that link and instructions. Thank you!!!

- - it does tell you what to do:
type that, in the Terminal Box in your LinuxMint System
when you do that .. is there any further error ?

Well, thanks to everyone here and your patient guidance, it is sorted now. It is annoying how Windows Secure Boot makes headaches even if you don't use Windows. I guess when I reset my UEFI to defaults months ago, it restored that and disabled Intel VM support and on top of having to fix them, I had to restore, twice, the bootloader and then I had to run those command line strings as suggested.
All's well that ends well, but I didn't get enough sleep now.
