VMWare reports "No 3D support"

Post by blizzard12 »

Hardware graphics acceleration is enabled and running on the host, but VMWare thinks otherwise. Any help to fix this issue would be highly appreciated!

Here's the graphics info:

Code: Select all

Graphics:
Device-1: AMD RV730/M96-XT [Mobility Radeon HD 4670] vendor: Dell
driver: radeon v: kernel bus ID: 02:00.0
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.8 driver: ati,radeon
unloaded: fbdev,modesetting,vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: AMD RV730 (DRM 2.50.0 / 5.4.0-65-generic LLVM 10.0.0)
v: 3.3 Mesa 20.0.8 direct render: Yes
...and what VMWare shows when starting up a VM:

Select the VM and click on Edit virtual machine settings. A new window will open and under the Hardware tab go to Display and there you'll find a checkbox labeled Accelerate 3D graphics. Select that checkbox, save and once again fire up your VM.
Note: Don't forget to install vmware tools when you boot your VM :wink:

Insert the line

Code: Select all

mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = "TRUE"
into the ~/.vmware/preferences file.
