Newbee : Sanboxing & Mint default virtualization 'Boxes' utility
Are the 'Boxes' virtual machines considered to be secure like sandboxes ? Can i 'harden' a Boxes vm with firejail appAmor or something or only the utilities being used in a Boxes vm can be secured individually?

A quick look at the homepage for "Boxes", my opinion is that it is no worse than virtualbox.
A virtual manager application has the duty to isolate the content as much as it can - sandboxing if you want to look at it that way. The homepage for boxes make a point of stating "... Boxes does not provide many of the advanced options to tweak virtual machines provided by ...". So you will be stuck with whatever has been decided by the developers.
If you desire to give an unknown distribution a spin and don't care about limitations, then Boxes would probably fit the bill.
