Enabling Virtulization in UEFI/BIOS LM20.1 - [SOLVED]

Post by 52ROSt »

LM 20.1 Cinnnamon
Virtualbox and Extensions v 6.1.18
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4600U CPU @ 2.10GHz (CPU support Virtulization)

I want to migrate my 3 Windows VMs into my LM 20.1 machine. The VMs were running fine in LM 17.3 KDE

When I start one of my VMs I get the error message:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine WFM Basic_01.

VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes (VERR_VMX_MSR_ALL_VMX_DISABLED).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
The same error message appears for all 3 Windows VMs.

How can I change the settings in UEFI and BIOS to enable VT-x / Virtualization?

Thanks in advance for helping comments.

There are two ways to find out. The first is to consult the manual for your machine. The second is to go into the BIOS and look for it.

Nothing more than that can be said because you don't tell us the make and model of the machine or its motherboard so nobody can look up the information for you.

@Kadaitcha Man
Thanks for your hellping reply.

It was at the end VERY easy. I was confused from the many UEFI related comments in Windows. All rubbish.
Solution: BIOS > Security > Virtualization > enable > Save

For other Lenovo Users: Search for how to enable Virtualization in (model name)
