Does auto login for mdm work on LMDE?

Post by wshyang »

Hi all,

Does the mdm.conf code actually work for LMDE? I've just gotten the latest linuxmint-201204-mate-cinnamon-dvd-32bit installed, and so I followed the instructions...

And upon reboot, I still see the login prompt :(

Here's how my mdmsetup screen looks like:

I really can't figure out what's amissed. Tried switching to SLIM (which does allows me to get auto login configured), but it seems to cause other breakages with the optical drive not being able to mount, and the shutdown/restart options not showing on logout, so MDM is still the way to go (if I can get it to autologin!)

Any advice much appreciated :)

A really really really odd observation:

Timed login works!

I just went back to GDM and modified its /etc/gdm/gdm.conf.

But MDM is the default, and somehow GDM3 doesn't install on my install (apt-get breaks at some point with some error), so I will stick with MDM for it is the safest.

I've actually managed to find a workaround to have a Timed Login with the delay set to 0 seconds. But it is kinda lame...
