Hi there,
I have been using LMDE 2 for years now and I find one problem, is not huge just cosmetic. There is an OK button on the right of the front page to allow switching mirror, which works like a 'click bait' to me for apply settings, it should put elsewhere that not obvious and misleading.

Re: Update manager flaw
Go into Edit/Preferences in the manager and tick the 'Don't suggest to switch to local mirror' box

Re: Update manager flaw
It is the idea, that this bar gets displayed prominently. Usually it is an advantage - both for the user and for Mint - to switch to local mirrors, but obviously the local mirror cannot be the same for all users in the world. So it has to be done by the user.
