Mint 10 Features in LMDE

Post by newfie »

Hello

I just saw the new artwork and mintmenu for Julia. I love the new looks! How can I add the artwork (icons, theme etc) to LMDE? Or will it just roll in?

Since Mint-10 Julia is not been 'officially' released as 'Final' yet and LMDE is a new edition of Mint . . . we don't really know yet. It's up to the Mint Devs/Maintainers, as to when and how.

But, if you have the Mint repositories 'active' in your sources.list ... then, when Mint-10 is released -- the MintMenu and artwork should also, hit the LMDE repros. No need to do anything except 'update'

As I mentioned in another thread mint-x-icons and mint-x-theme packages are already in LMDE's repositories. ;)

What do you mean by the Mint repository?

Code: Select all

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import
Is this the right one? This will contain Mint 10's features so we'll have them by doing a regular update?
Sorry if the question seems too noobish,I was just thinking that this package refers to the debian packages and not the regular release ones.

Arrrgh... enabling Romeo messed up :(!

- MintMenu disappeared
- I cannot edit my panels
- Panels crashing repeatedly
- Applications not showing up in notification area anymore
- Downgrading didn't help anything

Basically, gnome is not usable right now. Help ASAP would be great :(

Try uninstalling the new ClearlooX. For me this clashed completely with the new Mint 10 theme/iconset.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the brushed metal background? I searched around (gnome-look and mint artwork), but I'm sure I'm missing something. I could easily clone out the Mint 10 logo.

Hmm,it seems my menu icons have vanished. The rest of the features seem to work fine.Hopefully they will update the menu soon so there won't be anymore bugs.

It's because the icon size is set in pixels now. You should right click on the menu then go to preferences / places and set the icon size to 16. That should fix it. ;)

So am I the only one running with a taskbar larger than 24 pixels? I have mine set to 30 pixels, and it has a horrible line running through it.

Image

I have checked the panel PNGs and sure enough the line is from the PNG itself - so it obviously isn't scaling up properly, and is tiling. Aside from re-drawing the PNGs myself, can I fix this somehow? Is it the kind of this that will be fixed in an update, or when the Mint 10 RC becomes stable?

I linked to this thread in the "Mint 10 FAQ" blog post and Clem mentioned he would talk to the artist behind Clearlooks-Revamp about this and other graphical issues with the new light theme.

Thanks.
I've installed mint-x-theme. But I got problem opening Appearance. It won't open. Or it opens with just a wide white horizontal bar. :(
