Mint Meta-package for Debian

Since the current installation is lacking LVM encryption, is it possible to install Mint as a Meta-package for Debian?
Something like this:
- 1) Minimum Debian install using encrypted LVM options from Net Install Disk
2) Download mint-lxde.deb OR mint-gnome.deb; which would fix the repo list & start the meta-package install for that desktop

Install the regular GNOME CD, add the following repo to /etc/apt/sources.list
Code: Select all
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main import upstream romeo
then run
Code: Select all
apt-get update && apt-get install linuxmint-keyring mint-meta-debian

maybe without romeo at first - that is if there isn't anything on it you know you want

... you'll have to add the debian multimedia repo too to have access to all the dependencies of mint-meta-debian

very interesting...so to avoid the extra bandwidth of upgrading installed packages a user could do this with the Debian testing net-install CD for gnome desktop.

As long as the appropriate repositories are listed AND enabled this is the best way to do a full LMDE conversion to an existing Debian install. If, like me, you don't want everything that is on the LMDE LiveCD then enable the repos and install only the packages you want. That is how I am going to do it when my net connection gets back to full speed.
