Password for root user Live DVD ?
For installation on the hard disk's root password is required

I had the same issue.
I used Universal-USB-Installer-1.8.6.4.exe to make install my linuxmint-201109-xfce-dvd-32bit.iso on my 4 gb USB drive.
It booted just fine, but I was not able to start the installer.
If I tried from a terminal window, it would start but not get to gparted.
Now I remade the USB but with unetbootin-windows-555.exe instead.
That works just fine!
This should be a sticky/in FAQ.
