Laptop fan always on and very loud

Postby 0x2620 » Mon Jun 19, 2017 11:04 pm

Output of lm-sessions (used in bash simply as sessions) is:

Code: Select all

 sensors -f
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1:       +150.8°F  (crit = +190.4°F)
temp2:       +150.8°F  (crit = +190.4°F)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0:      +150.8°F  (high = +176.0°F, crit = +194.0°F)
Core 2:      +150.8°F  (high = +176.0°F, crit = +194.0°F)

What can I do to reduce the temperature?

Reduce the CPU clock rate? If that's the solution, how would I do it?

Install a more powerful fan?

Open it up and blow dust out?

That's definitely where I would start.

Hi,
you should try out TLP, it's very easy, has a great documentation, and with my notebook, it lowered the temperature significantly. If you like, install gkrellm, it also shows the temperature of the sensors, it's not the nicest looking tool of its kind, but requires just little of everything!
