Post by Pepi »

Any good sites or information on how to install it? I did a little searching and it wore me out  Appears Good Earth and Debian aren't friends

I have read that this should be installed first

Thanks Phd21. I tried the below before posting and had no luck. The Google Earth client will run but it will only show my desktop wallpaper. If I click on go to browser mode it will run in the 'Lite Mode' through my browser. Must be a video problem with the client version?

Hi "Pepi",

The command is just "inxi -Fxzd", can you please re-run and post those results or update your last ones? I would like to see the video info and other info. Your CPU and its cores and threads do not seem to be running at optimum levels either.

You can try this...

Hi "Pepi",

I am not that familiar with the Debian versions of Linux Mint (LMDE), perhaps someone else who is can respond.

From what I just read about your computer's "Quad core Intel Core i7 Q 720" and its 8 processing threads, it should be running at 1.6ghz, but your results are showing just over half of that, perhaps when you are running stuff it will increase. You could change that to always run in performance mode, if you want. And, your bios is from 2010, have you checked for bios updates?

I had no problems at all simply downloading and installing Google's installer. Been a few years now but it still works. However, I checked in Software Manager, and there is a package there that creates a Debian package for it. It's called Googleearth-package. BTW I use LMDE2 Mate.
