A friend of mine is pretty up on Linux (server) stuff. He thinks I should not be running a Kernel at 3.16? He thinks it isn't safe in today's hacking world. I told him this Kernel is a LTS kernel and it works great on my LMDE2 system. What do you guys think? I know I've read some of you are using the back-port and using a 4 xxxx something kernel.
I do a lot of my banking on this PC so I want to make sure it is safe
Thanks

From that it appears that 3.16 is the Kernel you should use if your system runs fine on it. I will show this to him

Of course. As we often say: "If it works, don't touch it"

Some people you cannot convince no matter what. He still says my laptop is not safe to do banking on Oh well, it's a lot safer than using Windows

He is confused with Ubuntu's kernel cycle where 3.13 was the LTS kernel.Pepi wrote:Some people you cannot convince no matter what. He still says my laptop is not safe to do banking on Oh well, it's a lot safer than using Windows
